Little paws that could use a helping hand… Volunteers play a vital role in the operation of Almost Home Animal Shelter. We utilize trained volunteers to alleviate the daily workload of our staff and insure a high quality of life for our temporary residents.
The Almost Home Animal Shelter meets the needs of lost, abandoned, and unwanted animals in Dickinson County and the surrounding area, by providing the community with temporary shelter for them until they find a permanent adoptive family.
Caring for the needs of our community’s homeless companion animals is a 24/7, 365 day a year job. The move to our new 10,000 sq ft facility has brought significant changes for our staff, as our new shelter is 5 times larger than our former one.
To be able to volunteer: 13-15 years with parental participation
16 years and up
With our first commitment to the animals, we are seeking willing people to help care for our residents while they await their forever home. Below are just a few of the many volunteer opportunities available with Almost Home Animal Shelter:
~ Kennel cleaning – Cat cage/Dog kennel cleaning
~ Dog walking and socializing
~ Cat socializing and grooming
We even have opportunities to get involved that don’t depend on direct animal contact for those of you that feel you would “take them all home”
~ Maintenance and janitorial
